Experiential Professional Development for Educators

Creative Chiang Mai

Creative Chiang Mai is an experiential professional development program that brings together local artistry, cultural learning, creativity, and education in a way that feels both meaningful and inspiring.

Chiang Mai is known as a creative city where tradition, craftsmanship, and contemporary practice naturally come together. With deep roots in artistic traditions such as textile weaving, ceramics, metalwork, paper making, and wood carving, the city is home to a vibrant community of artisans, designers, and creative makers. There is a strong appreciation for handmade processes, storytelling, and connection to place, with creativity visible everywhere.

Creative Chiang Mai invites educators to experience this side of Chiang Mai through immersive workshops, meaningful cultural exchange, and hands-on learning with local artists and craftspeople. More than a professional development program, it is an opportunity to slow down, connect with local knowledge and traditions, and explore how creativity, culture, and place can meaningfully shape teaching and learning.

In collaboration with education consultant Taura Khongsat, local artists, and cultural guides, participants will engage in a unique, customized professional development program that integrates experiential learning with collaborative curriculum design. Participants will work closely with Taura before, during, and after the program to support intentional preparation, ongoing reflection, and meaningful implementation of learning within their school contexts.

This professional development program will be offered three times throughout the 2026–2027 school year. Additional dates are available for schools interested in sending teams or arranging customized group programs.
